Vance and Hines Big Radius Softail
Big Radius on 2006 Softail Deluxe
Our Answer
Hey John....nice choice in bikes....those softail deluxe bikes ride so smooth and nice...I am jealous. As for your question, I have a hard time telling someone whether something will be too loud for them as sound is very subjective.
What I love, you might hate. So what I usually try to do is find a video of the pipe in question, on the bike in question and let you decide for yourself. I can tell you this, Vance and Hines is an awesome manufacturer of Harley Davidson pipes and you should enjoy them a lot. I've run a number of different variations of their pipes on my own motorcycles and recently reviewed a set of the Big Radius pipes but in the 2 into 1 configuration.
Check out the video, see for yourself and let us know what you decide. Here's a few links to some deals below...MSRP is almost 700 bucks on those pipes......

Gee … I am so poor, I would have to eat at least 2 pounds of beans plus a broccoli stew for my “muffler” to sound anything like that!!

Removing the baffles from a set of pipes like Vance and Hines is not that smart. If you’ve got an old hunk of crap bike with an old hunk of crap set of pipes on it then go for it…who cares.
On an 06 Deluxe running 700 dollar pipes….I would simply leave it alone or change to a competition style baffle if you absolutely MUST have it louder.
In most cases though, especially on Vance and Hines, the pipes are plenty loud enough right out of the box.
Don’t remove the baffles……wouldn’t be prudent….not at this juncture.
