Vance and Hines has recently updated the chrome finish of the Pro Pipe to offer its blue proof technology across the entire length of the pipe. In years past the blue proof technology used to only apply to the heat shields and did not cover the muffler body itself but that has now changed, bringing you a system that will look great for many miles to come.

The blue proof technology now extends front to back of the pipe. I can tell you from first hand experience that the chrome finish on the Vance and Hines Pro Pipe is some of the best around. You will not be disappointed with the fit or finish of the Vance and Hines Pro Pipe.

Install on a set of Vance and Hines pipes is typically a breeze. Most Harley Davidsons pipes aren't that tough, unbolt one and bolt on the new one and the Pro Pipe is similar. It fits like it should and comes with high quality flanges and hardware. It is important to note that you should pick up a set of gaskets as most Harley pipes do not include the gaskets. Screaming Eagle gaskets that you can get right from the dealer work fine.

Vance and Hines Pro Pipe Sound

If you are unfamiliar with the sound of a 2 into 1 exhaust pipe on a Harley Davidson motorcycle then let me tell you that you will either love it or hate it. There usually isn't anything in the middle. The Pro Pipe is reasonably quiet at idle and part throttle but will really start to wail at wide open throttle.

If you are a loud pipe junkie then this pipe might not be for you. It definitely has a deep and healthy exhaust note but it isn't what I would consider a really loud pipe. Its the kind of pipe that you could come home at 2am and not wake up the entire neighborhood with it. It's definitely a Jekyll and Hyde kind of thing though because it turns into a beast at WOT.

Vance and Hines 2 into 1 Power

The power increase that you will recognize from installing this pipe onto your Harley Davidson will vary dramatically depending on your state of tune and how closely you get your tune dialed in. If you spend the time to have it dyno tuned after install then it wouldn't be uncommon to pick up a significant amount of power....20hp or more with as much torque is feasible.

If you aren't familiar with a 2 into 1 pipe then what these pipes do is allow a much better scavenging of the cylinder than most traditional 2 into 2 pipes but they still need to be tuned for optimum power. The typical characteristic of a 2 into 1 pipe is that it will FEEL SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than a 2 into 2 because they tend to produce decent torque increases in the low to mid range power band.

A 2 into 1 equipped Harley Davidson will typically be an absolute joy to ride as they make power where you use it most often. It's hard to predict power increases but 10 hp and 10 tq is not uncommon and while this might not sound like much, it will impact the way the bike feels, dramatically.

When you range beyond "stock" engine internals and add cams or cylinder head work, then you really can crack open some power but most riders will be more than happy with the power that a Stock Harley engine with a decent Stage 1 upgrade and a good tune will produce.
